• Clinical Applications of CAD/CAM Dentistry in the Practice

  • CAD/CAM dentistry is evolving at a rapid pace. There are constant improvements in materials, software and also applications such as implant placement and restoration. With this, it is very difficult for most dentists to keep track of how to apply all these new innovations. In this course, we will try to make sense of these options by discussing software improvements, ideal materials for certain clinical scenarios, and even how to simplify your preparation protocol for success. We will also introduce multiple workflows for placing and restoring implants.

+ Speaker Bio

  • Dr. Dan Butterman is a general dentist with a practice emphasis on implant and CAD/CAM dentistry. He is an Advanced CEREC Trainer, Visiting Faculty, and Mentor for cerecdoctors.com. Dr. Butterman has trained dentists throughout the world and lectures internationally on various topics, such as Implantology, CAD/CAM dentistry, and 3-D Printing. In 1994, he graduated with honors from the University of Maryland Dental School. Dr. Butterman also is a graduate of the Misch International Implant Institute, and was awarded the Mastership Certification by the International Dental Implant Association and the Fellowship Certification by the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He also is a member of the American Dental Association, the Colorado Dental Association, and the Metropolitan Denver Dental Society.

• Take Your Practice to the Next Level with CAD/CAM Dentistry

  • This lecture will explore all of the different capabilities of the CEREC system and give an overview of the indications, materials and uses of the CEREC technology and how it can fit into a dental practice. The session will review historically the development of the CEREC as well as its current uses.

  • To appreciate how CAD CAM can impact a dental practice for productivity and profitability

+ Speaker Bio

  • Dr. Skramstad is a 2000 graduate of the University Of Minnesota School Of Dentistry. He is a certified advanced CEREC trainer and has lectured internationally on technology, implantology and digital dentistry. Dr. Skramstad is an Alpha/Beta tester for Sirona Dental Systems and enjoys working closely with the engineering team to help with hardware/software development. A product consultant for multiple dental companies, he has the pleasure to test and evaluate many products prior to market launch and has published numerous articles on materials and CAD/CAM.

    Dr. Skramstad is a resident faculty member in the CAD/CAM Department of Spear Education and www.cerecdoctors.com, a nationally renowned website and continuing education center in Scottsdale, Arizona. He also maintains a successful restorative practice in Orono, MN focusing on Esthetic, Implant and CAD/CAM Dentistry.

• Exploring the Diverse Variety of CAD/CAM Restorative Materials for the CEREC System

  • A significant advantage of the CEREC system is the wide variety of materials available to fit the needs of clinician’s preferences and clinical applications. These range from adhesive ceramics to hybrid ceramics to composites to high strength zirconia materials. The clinical applications and limitations, physical properties, restoration processing and delivery will be presented. Current clinical studies will be reviewed to illustrate evidenced-based decisions through clinical examples.

Learning Objectives

  • Present restorative materials available for CEREC clinical applications
  • Provide information on fabrication processes to maximize material physical properties that may influence clinical applications
  • Review available in vitro and clinical research to optimize clinical applications

+ Speaker Bio

  • Dr. Fasbinder is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences and Endodontics, University of Michigan, School of Dentistry. He is board-certified in General Dentistry by the American Board of General Dentistry. He also maintains a part-time private practice in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Fasbinder directs the Computerized Dentistry Unit at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry that is dedicated to research and education on CAD/CAM dental systems. The CompuDent Unit has been a leader in education and research with chairside CAD/CAM systems and digital impression systems since 1993 resulting in numerous publications. Dr. Fasbinder is a frequent speaker on ceramic-based dentistry and digital dental systems at meetings and conferences throughout North America and International locations.

  • Dr. Sarah Jockin in a champion of digital dentistry and can't imagine treating her patients without it. Practicing CBCT integrated implantology since 2011, she values having full control over her patient's dental implant experience. Dr. Jockin is Associate Clinical Professor at UF Gainesville, where she teaches CAD/CAM digital workflows to Graduate Prosthetics Residents. She inspires, educates and supports digital dentists nationwide as the director of CEREC Seminars.com, a training facility located in Tampa, FL. Dr. Jockin is Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantologists and Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. She is a beta tester and speaker for Dentsply Sirona CAD/CAM and Implants, lecturing on crown down implantology. During her free time, Dr. Jockin enjoys going scuba diving and snowboarding with her husband Jay and son Victor.
